  1. Kanwar Mela

    Kanwar Mela


    Kanwar Mela begins in  July or August and marks the end of the month of Sawan in the Hindu calendar. During the festival, people gather on the banks of the holy river Ganges to collect water as a part of this festival. The pilgrimage lasts for over a month, and devotees wear saffron-coloured clothes. People walk barefoot and fully clothed from their place to Haridwar, Gangotri or Gaumukh to collect the holy water of the Ganges.

    Maha Aarti


    This Aarti at Triveni Ghat attracts tourists from every part of the country as well as the world. Here, the aarti starts with the chanting of bhajans, priests holding large fire bowls in their hands, ringing the bells and the chants of mantras. The Ghat also illuminates every night at Maha Aarti. It is believed that whosoever takes a bath in this holy river washes all their sins, purifies their souls, and attains salvation after death. Your commute to Triveni Ghat is quite easy; take a bus from Rishikesh Bus Stand, which is 1 km away from the location.

During Ganga Dussehra, believers throng the riverbank were convinced that immersing in its holy waters would absolve them of their transgressions. During Ganga Dussehra, various pilgrims flock to sacred places such as Rishikesh, Haridwar, and nearby districts in pursuit of spiritual purification through sacred rituals and ceremonial baths. At night, the lights afloat on the banks of the Ganges seemed specifically beautiful, and devotees chanted many hymns.

    Famous dance form of the Kumaon region depicting martial valour and war. Men who usually participate in large numbers wear traditional attire, complete with a shield and sword.     Folk & dance forms are popular in Rishikesh. It is performed to worship the local deities. It is believed that the songs narrate stories of the gods and goddesses and invoke their blessings.     Pandav Nritya is a unique dance form of Uttarakhand, originating from the epic Mahabharata. It is performed by a group of dancers portraying characters from the epic, such as the Pandavas and the Kauravas. The impersonators wear aesthetic costumes and accessories that bring the characters to life. The dance, combined with spectacle and performance, is performed to showcase the entertainment to the audience.
