Charminar's Culinary Delights

1.Kabab-E-Jahangiri

If you’re a beef lover, Kabab-E-Jahangiri is the perfect place to start your food adventure. Located right in the heart of the bustling Charminar area, this tiny street food stall serves some of the most flavorful Seekh Kebabs and Talawa Gosht in Hyderabad. The Seekh Kebabs are tender and melt-in-your-mouth, while the Talawa Gosht, cooked with spices, offers a spicy, semi-gravy experience. The food here is served with Parotta and tangy chutney, and although it’s a small joint, it’s big on flavor.

Price Range: INR 150-300 (~USD 2-4) per plate

  1. Shahran

Just next to Kabab-E-Jahangiri, Shahran is another hidden gem for kebab lovers. The restaurant is popular for its Seekh Kebabs and Boti Kebab, served alongside Parotta and a peanut-based chutney. The Seekh Kebabs are incredibly soft, while the Boti Kebab offers a richer flavour, though it may take a little longer to prepare. If you’re lucky enough to get it, it’s definitely worth the wait.

Price Range: INR 200-400 (~USD 2.5-5) per meal

  1. Agra Mithaighar

After indulging in spicy street food, take a short walk to Agra Mithaighar, a bakery known for its indulgent Lassi. The Insanely Thick Lassi is a must-try, available in a variety of flavours like special, normal, and Kesar. However, be warned that it’s incredibly filling, so you might want to hold off on ordering too many varieties at once.

Price Range: INR 50-150 (~USD 0.6-2) per glass

  1. Nimrah Cafe

Located right by the Charminar, Nimrah Cafe is famous for its Irani Chai and Osmania biscuits. If you’re looking for a light snack to complement your tea, the Osmania biscuits are perfectly crisp and slightly sweet. The cafe also offers a variety of bakery items, although it’s the chai and biscuits that keep people coming back.

Price Range:  INR 50-100 (~USD 0.6-1.2) for tea and biscuits

  1. Milan Juice Center

For a refreshing break, head to Milan Juice Center, a popular stop for fresh fruit juices and milkshakes. Known for its wide selection of drinks, some highlights include the Avocado Milkshake, Dragon Fruit Milkshake, and the Fruit Salad. It's a great place to cool down and recharge before you continue your food journey.

Price Range: INR 50-150 (~USD 0.6-2) per drink

  1. Akbar Fast Food

If you’re craving some spicy street food, Akbar Fast Food offers a delicious Chicken 65 served with Parotta and a fiery red chutney. The chicken is crispy and flavorful, and although some pieces might have more batter than chicken, the overall experience is great. Prices here are affordable, with a full meal around INR 100-250.

Location: Near Charminar, Hyderabad

Price Range: INR 100-250

Optimal Sequence

It’s best to start your food adventure early and leave the best for last. For example, Hotel Shadab is a legendary spot, so it’s a good idea to visit it after sampling the street food. Eating there first might fill you up before you even get started with the rest of the walk.

Crowds

If you’re planning to visit on a Friday, be prepared for large crowds. The streets can get narrow and bustling with both locals and tourists, which can make your walk a bit more challenging. Walking is by far the best way to navigate this area. The streets around Charminar can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, and parking is a challenge if you're on a bike or car.
